{"id":18,"date":"2020-06-18T19:50:33","date_gmt":"2020-06-18T19:50:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/movemadeira.com\/move\/?page_id=18"},"modified":"2025-07-31T16:48:06","modified_gmt":"2025-07-31T16:48:06","slug":"sobre","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/movemadeira.com\/move\/en\/","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">MOVE arised upon a decade ago, by the desire of former art students from the University of Madeira Island (UMa) to increase culture in the city through several cultural actions with the purpose to promote the intervention and reflection about the most varied forms of art into the urban space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Filipa Jasmins Freitas and F\u00e1bio Teles were responsible for the development of the project, then presented as \u201cMovimento de Vontade de Express\u00e3o\u201d, which aimed to challenge creatives from different areas of artistic expression to bring together ideas and projects, encouraging the production of independent artistic work, making it accessible to the public through the establishment of a direct relationship between artistic practice and its enjoyment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">As cultural agents, they considered urban cultural dynamism to be urgent and decisive through new contemporary and diversified approaches focusing on regional artistic production, valuing and validating it, as well as boosting their opening to new emerging national and international artistic markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>2008<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">The movement opens with a public appearance within the scope of the Celebrations of the 500 Years of Funchal city, together with Edicarte, where it publicly debuts, on the central plate of Avenida Arriaga, for a period of 30 days, the installation arts entitled \u201dStop\" by Filipa Freitas, \u201cLabirinto\u201d by Sofia Fernandes and \u201cEspelhos\u201d by Filipe Ant\u00f3nio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>2010<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">With its solidified concept, MOVE organizes a collective exhibition, held at the Col\u00e9gio dos Jesu\u00edtas - UMa, which brought together 13 young regional artists, in a symbiosis of works that diversified between painting, sculpture and installation art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>2013<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">At the invitation of Edicarte, the Municipality of Funchal and the University of Madeira island, MOVE starts a partnership in order to develop a concept for the organization of a public art exhibition to be included in the Funchal Culture Festivals. The event had the participation of several artists who, one morning, developed the artistic practice live, having created a unique moment and seldom observed in the regional context: the production and enjoyment of the work simultaneously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>2015<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">In partnership with NOS Summer Opening 2015, MOVE promotes, in Parque de Santa Catarina, the Creative Installation Art Contest that involved artists from different intervention areas. It was a pilot project for urban innovation, which aimed to enable creative people to generate solutions, innovative projects that transform and enhance spaces and parks in Funchal city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>2020<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">MOVE ceases to be a movement and becomes the Association, adopting the name MOVE - Cultural, Creative and Artistic Association of Madeira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">A non-profit association whose main object is the creation, dissemination of creative projects and events aimed at enhancing creative expression and material and immaterial heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Its founding members are several people professionally and academically linked to the most varied forms of art in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, from dance to creative arts such as painting and sculpture, to the direction of artists linked to theater and interventions in space. public, associated with the tourist poster of Madeira.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">MOVE has the clear objective of developing, over these 4 years, protocols with creative and social centers as well as with the Municipalities of the region, in order to develop projects that enhance the creative talent and culture of cities and towns in our region<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>2022<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">MOVE initiates a protocol with the Regional Secretariat for Culture, in order to develop the ARTWALK project, which in the first edition will feature a tribute to the sculptor\/creative Maruricio Fernandes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">This exhibition | Itinerant Installation has the participation of several regional artists, invited, to develop a piece to honor Mauricio Fernandes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"> ARTWALK \u2013 Will visit 8 municipalities in the Autonomous Region of Madeira until December 31, 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>2022<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">MOVE initiates a protocol with the Regional Secretariat for Culture, in order to develop the ARTWALK project, which in the first edition will feature a tribute to the sculptor\/creative Maruricio Fernandes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">This exhibition | Itinerant Installation has the participation of several regional artists, invited, to develop a piece to honor Mauricio Fernandes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"> ARTWALK \u2013 Will visit 8 municipalities in the Autonomous Region of Madeira until December 31, 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>2023<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">We had a year with 2 different presentations, the first took place for 1 month, between April 28th and May 28th, entitled Flowers of war with creative direction by Filipa Jasmins Freitas. Flowers of War was an installation that was part of the Santa Cruz Municipality's Flower Festival festivities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Colors in The Dark was MOVE's 2nd production project and was also creatively directed by Filipa Jasmins Freitas. This was the 1st Artistic Installations Exhibition_Funchal 2023 which took place between the 25th, 26th and 27th of August in the Quinta M\u00e1gn\u00f3lia Gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">This year featured two projects presented to the public.\nLight Garden \u2013 a light installation directed by Filipa Jasmins Freitas \u2013 took place in the municipality of Santa Cruz during the celebration of Sancta Cruz em Flor, which showcased a variety of works by different visual artists.\n\nRecycle ME was MOVE's second production project, also under the creative direction of Filipa Jasmins Freitas. This exhibition featured works by several Madeiran artists, including Evangelina Sirgado de Sousa and F\u00e1tima Sp\u00ednola, as well as contributions from multimedia students from Francisco Franco and Apel Secondary Schools.\nRecycle ME took place from October 25 to November 3 in the gardens of Quinta Magn\u00f3lia and was supported by D'Gartes, the Regional Secretariat for Tourism and Culture, and the Municipality of Funchal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">Recycle ME foi o 2\u00ba projeto de produ\u00e7\u00e3o da MOVE e tambem com dire\u00e7\u00e3o criativa de Filipa Jasmins Freitas. Esta Exposi\u00e7\u00e3o contou com a presen\u00e7a de v\u00e1rios artistas madeirenses como Evangelina Sirgado de Sousa e de F\u00e1tima Spinola e ainda a participa\u00e7\u00e3o de interven\u00e7\u00f5es de alunos de multimedia das Escolas Secund\u00e1rias da Francisco Franco e Apel.
